Letter to healthcare professionals on 23/1/2020: Prevention of Severe Respiratory Disease associated with a Novel Infectious Agent (2nd letter)

Dear Sir / Madam,

Further  to  the  previous email dated 9 Jan 2020, we would like to
provide  the  latest  situation of pneumonia cases in Wuhan of Hubei, China
and in Hong Kong.

As of 23 January 2020, two highly suspected imported cases of novel
coronavirus  infection were found in Hong Kong.  The two patients have been
hospitalised  and  are  now  in  stable  condition.  In view of the latest
situation and risk assessment, we would like to alert healthcare workers to
adopt  stringent  infection  control  measures  to  reduce  the  risk  of
transmission  from  silent  patients  in  healthcare  settings.  Healthcare
workers  are advised to follow the relevant interim guidelines as listed in
the attached letter.

I  should  be most grateful if you could pass the letter to members
of your society / association.

Letters to health professionals on 9/1/2020: Prevention of Severe Respiratory Disease associated with a Novel Infectious Agent - health professionals

Dear Sir / Madam,

In  view  of  the cluster of pneumonia cases discovered in Wuhan of
Hubei, China, the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region
has  amended  the Prevention and Control of Disease Ordinance (Cap. 599) to
include Severe Respiratory Disease associated with a Novel Infectious Agent
as one of the statutory notifiable diseases.  In addition, some guidelines
on infection control for allied health professionals have been prepared and
an infection control forum will be held on 20 January 2020.  I should be
most  grateful  if  you  could pass the letter to members of your society /
association.

Yours sincerely,

(Dr Edmund FONG)
